Bharatiya Seniors of Chicago (BSC) organized a five-day religious tour from September 21 to 25, offering senior members an opportunity to visit three prominent spiritual destinations: BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham in Robbinsville, New Jersey; Vraj Mandir in Pennsylvania; and Vrindavan in West Virginia.

The journey brought members together for prayer, fellowship and cultural activities, while providing an opportunity to strengthen friendships and share memories. The group departed early on September 21, with conversations, bhajans, singing and Antakshari helping create a lively atmosphere throughout the bus journey.

Visit to Akshardham

After dinner at Amul India Restaurant and an overnight stay at Hampton Inn in the Washington area, the group arrived at Akshardham in Robbinsville, New Jersey, at approximately 10 a.m. on September 22.

The temple complex was a major highlight of the tour. Members admired its grand architecture, detailed craftsmanship and peaceful spiritual surroundings. The visit also offered an opportunity to appreciate India’s cultural traditions and religious heritage.

The group continued its journey to Vraj Mandir in Pennsylvania, where members attended the final Aarti at 8 p.m. before returning to Hampton Inn for the night.

A day of prayer and spiritual exploration in Vraj

The third day was devoted to Vraj Mandir and its surrounding spiritual attractions. Activities began with Mangala Aarti, followed by a visit to Govardhan Hill. Members spent the day participating in religious observances and exploring sites associated with Lord Krishna.

The group later enjoyed dinner and returned to the hotel. Organizers said the accommodation, meals and travel arrangements helped make the tour comfortable for the participants.

Vrindavan: A memorable spiritual experience

On the fifth day, the group departed by bus at 6 a.m. for Vrindavan in West Virginia. After approximately five hours of travel, members visited Vrindavan Palace and other spiritual attractions in the area.

The visit evoked a deep sense of devotion among participants, who reflected on the childhood pastimes of Lord Krishna and the traditions associated with Vraj. At the Vrindavan temple, members joined Hare Krishna devotees in devotional singing and dancing.

Following lunch, the group began its return journey to Chicago, arriving at Rana-Reagan in the Chicago area at approximately 10 p.m.

Fellowship and volunteer support

Beyond the religious visits, the tour provided opportunities for members to enjoy one another’s company. Bhajans, kirtans, Antakshari, shared snacks and conversations helped make the long bus journeys enjoyable. Regular rest stops were also scheduled during travel.

Organizers acknowledged the contributions of Haribhai, president of Bharatiya Seniors of Chicago, whose leadership and coordination helped guide the tour. Hirjibhai, committee members and volunteers also assisted with travel, meals, accommodations and other arrangements.
