Pritzker, Stratton, Bean and Biss emerge from a historic election with new opportunities to serve Illinois and engage its diverse communities.

The November 3, 2026, elections have brought a new chapter to Illinois politics. Four victories stand out for their significance to the state’s future: Governor J.B. Pritzker’s reelection to an unprecedented third term, Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton’s election to the U.S. Senate, and the congressional victories of Melissa Bean in the 8th District and Daniel Biss in the 9th District.
The IndoUS Tribune warmly congratulates all four leaders. Their victories reflect the confidence voters have placed in them and offer an opportunity to build on their public-service records while responding to the changing needs of Illinois communities.
As these leaders prepare for their next responsibilities, we recognize not only their electoral achievements but also the importance of maintaining an open and constructive relationship between elected representatives and the people they serve.
Governor J.B. Pritzker: A Historic Third Term

Governor J.B. Pritzker’s reelection marks a milestone in Illinois political history. He becomes the first Democratic governor in the state’s history to win three terms. His victory gives him another four years to lead Illinois and continue the work of his administration.
A third term offers an opportunity to build on existing initiatives while addressing the issues that matter most to residents: economic growth, education, healthcare, infrastructure, public safety and the cost of living. Property taxes, fiscal responsibility and the state’s business climate will also remain important concerns.
Illinois is home to a diverse and accomplished Indian American community, with significant contributions in medicine, technology, education, business and public service. Its members are employers, professionals, investors, taxpayers and active participants in civic life.
We congratulate Governor Pritzker on this historic achievement and look forward to continued engagement with his administration on issues affecting all Illinois residents, including the state’s Indian American families and businesses.
Juliana Stratton: A Historic Journey to the U.S. Senate

Senator-elect Juliana Stratton’s victory over Republican Don Tracy for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Dick Durbin is another defining result of the Illinois election.
Her election creates a historic distinction: Stratton will serve alongside Senator Tammy Duckworth, making Illinois the first state represented simultaneously by two women of color in the U.S. Senate.
As she moves from the office of lieutenant governor to the national legislature, Stratton will have an important role in shaping federal policy and representing the interests of Illinois residents. Her new responsibilities will include engaging with questions involving economic opportunity, healthcare, education, immigration and America’s relationships with international partners.
For the Indian American community, the opportunity for dialogue with the incoming senator is particularly meaningful. Immigration policies, international students, skilled professionals, entrepreneurship and the U.S.-India relationship are among the issues that connect the community to decisions made in Washington.
We extend our congratulations to Senator-elect Stratton and look forward to hearing her perspectives on the priorities of Illinois’ diverse communities.
Melissa Bean: Returning to Congress in the 8th District

Melissa Bean’s victory in the 8th Congressional District brings her back to the U.S. House of Representatives. Having previously represented the district from 2005 to 2011, she returns to Congress with prior legislative experience and familiarity with the communities she will serve.
Her election comes at a time when residents are looking for responsive representation on economic development, healthcare, taxation, education, housing and small-business growth.
The 8th District encompasses communities with diverse professional, cultural and business backgrounds. Indian American families, entrepreneurs and technology professionals are part of this changing suburban landscape. Their concerns deserve attention and meaningful access to their elected representative.
We congratulate Congresswoman-elect Bean and look forward to reconnecting with her as she prepares to represent the district in the new Congress.
Daniel Biss: From Evanston to the U.S. Congress

Daniel Biss’s election in the 9th Congressional District marks an important transition from local and state leadership to national public service. The former Evanston mayor and state legislator will succeed retiring Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky.
The 9th District is home to universities, businesses, immigrant families and communities with a wide range of economic and cultural interests. Its residents look to their representative for engagement on education, housing, healthcare, transportation, economic opportunity and community development.
Biss brings experience in municipal and state government to his new congressional role. As he prepares to take office, there is an opportunity to strengthen connections with the many community organizations and constituencies that make the district distinctive.
We congratulate Congressman-elect Biss and look forward to engaging with him on the issues affecting residents throughout the 9th District, including the Indian American community.
A Stronger Connection with Illinois’ Communities
Beyond these four major victories, Democratic candidates also made gains in several Illinois State Senate and House races. These local contests will shape important decisions in Springfield on education, taxation, public safety, healthcare and economic development.
For IndoUS Tribune, this election is also an opportunity to strengthen communication between Illinois’ elected leadership and the Indian American diaspora. The community is not simply an audience during election season. It is an active part of the state’s economic, professional, educational and civic life.
We look forward to inviting Governor Pritzker, Senator-elect Stratton, Congresswoman-elect Bean and Congressman-elect Biss to share their perspectives with our readers through interviews and discussions about their priorities for Illinois.
Congratulations to all four leaders. We wish them success as they take on their new responsibilities and look forward to a constructive relationship built on dialogue, mutual understanding and service to the people of Illinois.
