Israel is set to invest $133 million to advance artificial intelligence development.

Israel will allocate half a billion shekels (approximately $133 million) to enhance infrastructure for artificial intelligence (AI) research and development.

This funding, part of a national AI initiative, will focus on integrating AI into the public sector, including the establishment of a knowledge hub to assist government ministries and local authorities, as stated by the Israel Innovation Authority on Tuesday.

The investment will also support the creation of a national AI research institute and launch projects that link research breakthroughs to industry and defense applications, according to Xinhua news agency.

Additionally, the initiative aims to strengthen human capital by developing specialized AI training programs in the military and attracting international experts to Israel. Resources will be dedicated to utilizing existing data repositories to expedite AI research and innovation, along with transformative high-tech projects.

The authority also plans to enhance academic faculties by providing advanced degree scholarships to bolster AI research capabilities while addressing issues related to regulation, ethics, and international collaboration in the field.
