PM Modi Aims to Establish Multiple ‘Singapores’ Across Bharat
During his visit to Singapore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his ambition to replicate Singapore’s success across India. Speaking at a meeting with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Modi highlighted his vision of establishing several “Singapores” within Bharat.
The two leaders discussed strengthening bilateral ties as part of Modi’s two-day visit, which was hosted by Wong.
“Singapore serves as an inspiration for every developing nation,” Modi remarked. “Our goal is to create multiple Singapores in Bharat, and I am pleased that we are progressing in that direction together. The ministerial roundtables between our nations are a groundbreaking initiative. Areas of cooperation such as skilling, digitization, mobility, semiconductor technology, advanced manufacturing, AI, healthcare, sustainability, and cybersecurity have become central to our collaborative efforts.”
During the visit, several MoUs were signed, focusing on Digital Technologies, Health and Medicine, Educational Cooperation and Skills Development, and the India-Singapore Semiconductor Ecosystem Partnership.
Before their discussions, Modi was ceremonially welcomed at the Singapore Parliament House, where he met with ministers and delegates from both countries and signed the visitor’s book.
This meeting follows Wong’s recent assumption of office as Singapore’s Prime Minister and Modi’s third term as India’s Prime Minister. Modi congratulated Wong on his new role, expressing confidence that Singapore will continue to thrive under Wong’s leadership.
Modi arrived in Singapore on Wednesday, concluding the final leg of his two-nation tour, which included a visit to Brunei.
