Rahul Gandhi to Hold Two Election Rallies in J&K on Monday

Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, is set to visit Jammu and Kashmir on Monday to address two election rallies ahead of the second phase of the Assembly polls.

Gandhi will begin his visit by arriving in Srinagar on a special chartered flight in the morning, followed by a helicopter ride to Surankote. He is scheduled to speak at a Congress campaign rally in the Surankote constituency of Rajouri district at 12:30 PM. After the rally, he will return to Srinagar by helicopter.

In the afternoon, he will address another party rally in the Shalteng constituency of Srinagar district, where JKPCC chief Tariq Hamid Karra is contesting the election. Gandhi will then depart for New Delhi in the evening.

The National Conference (NC) and Congress have formed a pre-poll alliance in J&K, with NC contesting 52 seats and Congress 31. Two seats have been left uncontested: one in the Valley for CPI-M and another in the Jammu division for the Panthers Party.

However, the alliance could not agree on five seats: Banihal, Nagrota, Kishtwar, Doda in Jammu, and Sopore in the Valley, leading to friendly contests among their candidates in those constituencies.

Voting for the second phase of the J&K Assembly elections is scheduled for September 25, with the third and final phase on October 1. Counting of votes will take place on October 8.
