Americans4Hindus (A4H) hosted a virtual Meet-and-Greet on December 21 with Saritha Komatireddy, a prominent American Hindu leader and candidate for Attorney General of the State of New York. The event drew community members from across the country and focused on leadership, public safety, and civic engagement.
The program opened with remarks from A4H Global President Pramit Makoday, who highlighted Komatireddy’s credentials, noting that she is the only prosecutor in the race. He underscored her academic background, including education at Harvard University and teaching experience at Columbia University, describing her profile as a rare combination of legal expertise, academic achievement, and real-world prosecutorial experience.
A4H Communications Vice President Geeta Sikand emphasized the importance of political participation by American Hindus, calling for greater civic engagement to ensure strong and authentic representation within the political system.
Addressing participants, Komatireddy identified affordability and public safety as New York’s most pressing challenges. She outlined her record as a prosecutor, including her role in securing the conviction of an ISIS terrorist, and reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening public safety across the state. She also noted that her campaign has gained significant attention from media outlets and community leaders within its first few weeks.
Dr. Romesh Japra, Founder and Chairman of Americans4Hindus, urged the community to support Komatireddy at the grassroots level, particularly during the early fundraising phase. He emphasized that early, unified backing from Hindu Americans would be critical to building momentum and demonstrating broad-based support for her candidacy.
During the event, Americans4Hindus formally announced its full endorsement of Komatireddy. Sandeep Deswal, A4H Social Media Chair and Political Strategist, pledged national-level support for the campaign, noting that public safety has become a defining issue in major cities and that the race carries significance beyond New York.
A4H New York Chapter Vice President Monolita Mitra and Chapter President Dr. Rakesh Shreedhar also announced plans to organize a series of in-person Meet-and-Greet events across New York State, providing opportunities for direct engagement between the candidate and community members.
Offering support from outside the state, Hemal Trivedi, President of A4H Denver, Colorado, commended Komatireddy for entering public service and encouraged greater political participation among second-generation Hindu Americans, highlighting civic engagement as both a responsibility and a pathway to sustained community representation.
