In a powerful demonstration of international solidarity, the Chicago INDO US Lions Club has partnered with the MIBG Foundation to launch a large-scale Winter Relief Drive across northern and western India, addressing the urgent needs of communities grappling with record-breaking cold waves.

The joint initiative focuses on vulnerable populations, including the homeless, elderly, rural laborers, and families living in slum settlements, many of whom lack adequate shelter and protection against extreme winter temperatures. Heavy-duty blankets, specially designed for harsh weather, are being distributed to ensure recipients remain warm during the most challenging nights.

Lion Kishan Trivedi, President of the Chicago INDO US Lions Club, highlighted the urgency of the project. “Distance does not diminish our duty to serve,” he said. “Through this partnership with MIBG Foundation, we are able to deliver aid directly to those who need it most. Our goal is not just to provide warmth, but to restore dignity, comfort, and hope during the harsh winter months.” Lion Deepak Nayak added, “Seeing our brothers and sisters struggle in freezing conditions, we knew immediate action was required. This initiative embodies the true spirit of ‘We Serve.’”

The program has strategically identified high-need districts to maximize impact, reaching night shelters, isolated rural communities, and temporary housing settlements. The MIBG Foundation’s local teams, supported by volunteers, conduct late-night distribution drives, ensuring blankets are delivered when recipients need them most.

This collaboration exemplifies the power of global partnerships in humanitarian work, combining Chicago INDO US Lions Club’s philanthropic resources with MIBG Foundation’s local expertise to create sustainable, meaningful impact.
