Rajasthanis of Chicago celebrate Diwali Milan Gala with splendor and spirit
The Chicago Association of Rajasthanis in America (ARA) celebrated its annual Rajasthani Diwali Milan Gala Dinnerwith great enthusiasm and joy at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glen Ellyn/Lombard this past Saturday. The event turned into a spectacular evening filled with laughter, color, and the true festive spirit of Diwali — the Festival of Lights.
Nearly 200 members of the Chicagoland Rajasthani community came together for the celebration, creating an atmosphere of warmth and togetherness that embodied the essence of family and tradition.
A highlight of the evening was the presence of Mr. M. S. Chouhan from the Consulate of India, Chicago, who was warmly welcomed with a traditional turban ceremony — a mark of deep respect from the Rajasthani Parivar community.
The celebration began with a serene Laxmi Aarti, followed by a mesmerizing Ganesh Vandna dance performed by Asha Mehta, beautifully capturing the grace of Rajasthani folk traditions. What followed was an evening packed with entertainment — a blend of traditional and modern dances that showcased the immense talent within the community, including several first-time performers from ARA who received loud applause from the audience.

Adding to the fun were interactive games organized by the youth, encouraging guests to mingle and share smiles. Both adults and children participated in captivating folk dance performances, creating a kaleidoscope of color and culture. The traditional attire worn by attendees made the entire venue sparkle with elegance and festivity.
Of course, no Rajasthani celebration is complete without food — and the authentic Rajasthani cuisine served that night was a culinary delight, evoking memories of home and tradition.
Chairman Mr. Ram Saini and the ARA Executive Team were widely appreciated for their leadership and vision in making the event a success. Special thanks were extended to President Rakesh Kumar, Co–Vice Presidents Ekta Mundada and Neha Patodia, Treasurer Avdesh Mishra, Emcee Mr. Dipesh, and Pooja Sharma for their hard work and coordination. The efforts of the volunteers and board members were also recognized as the true backbone behind this grand celebration.
The Diwali Milan Gala served as a powerful reminder of the unity, joy, and rich cultural heritage that define the Rajasthani community in the U.S. ARA leaders announced that the next community event will be the Holi celebration, with details to be shared soon.
