FIA Chicago holds Annual General Council Meeting, elects the new Executive Board

The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA-Chicago), established in 1980, successfully conducted its Annual General Council Meeting, followed by elections and key appointments.
The program began with a welcome address by FIA President Hemant Patel, who outlined the organization’s mission and ongoing commitment to community service. He then invited Election Chair and Trustee Director Dr. Bharatbhai Barai, along with the election committee, to take charge of the proceedings. The elections and subsequent appointments were conducted under their careful supervision, ensuring transparency and efficiency.
FIA Trustees, Ex-Officio members, Executives, Directors, and delegates were invited on stage, where they highlighted the organization’s achievements in 2025. A detailed financial report was also presented, reflecting the association’s accountability and structured growth.
In a unanimous decision, Dr. Bharatbhai Barai was re-elected as Trustee-Director for the 2026–27 term by the Board of Directors, active trustees, executives, delegates, and association representatives.
The newly elected Executive Team for the 2025–26 term includes:
- Hemant Patel – President
- Anil Singh – Executive Vice President
- Rohit Joshi – Vice President
- Joy Shah – Vice President
- Bhavesh Patel – Vice President
- Arvind Ankleshwaria – Secretary
- Amar Upadhyay – Treasurer
- Yashaswini Desai – Joint Treasurer
- Vira Adimulam – Joint Secretary
The Election Chair, administered the oath of office to the newly elected executives.
Following the elections, the new leadership team appointed Directors and Delegates representing various member organizations. The FIA President also introduced Amendment 4.0 for discussion, which was passed unanimously with two minor revisions.
During the meeting, community leaders proposed several forward-looking initiatives, including organizing a health fair, hosting an OCI visa camp, establishing a health clinic, and launching an updated FIA website to enhance outreach and engagement.
FIA leadership reaffirmed its commitment to serving both Indian and American communities and expressed enthusiasm for continued collaboration with member associations and community leaders to strengthen unity and impact.
