
FIA marks India’s 77th Republic Day in Massachusetts with focus on democracy, unity, and shared values

Massachusetts celebrated India’s 77th Republic Day as the Foundation of Indian Americans New England hosted a community event at the Academy of Creative Arts, honoring India’s freedom fighters and the framers of its Constitution. The gathering marked the historic adoption of India’s Constitution, which established the nation as a constitutional republic and guaranteed fundamental rights to its citizens.
FIA New England President Abhishek Singh said Republic Day serves as a reminder of the responsibility to uphold freedom, equality, and justice for future generations, urging the community to protect unity and integrity. Attendees observed a moment of silence to honor martyrs of both India and the United States, followed by the singing of the national anthems.
Executive Vice President Sanjay Gokhale called on the community to work toward eliminating hunger, poverty, and inequality while strengthening peace and inclusion. Community leaders Rakesh and Aditi Soni highlighted the shared democratic journeys of India and the United States, while entrepreneur Devendra Patil reflected on India’s continued progress as the United States approaches its 250th anniversary in 2026.
Speakers including Mohan Nannapaneni, Java and Hetal Joshi, and Jayesh Patel emphasized constitutional values such as religious freedom, cultural and educational rights, and legal protections. FIA board members Shova Sharma and Anand Sharma thanked community supporters and dignitaries for their continued guidance. The event was documented by photographer Rasik Mehta, capturing a celebration rooted in heritage, civic responsibility, and unity.
