Hindu community celebrates cultural heritage and philanthropic spirit
The Manav Seva Mandir in Bensenville was filled with devotion, culture, and a strong sense of community last Saturday as over 350 Hindu Americans gathered for the Support-A-Child Charity Fundraiser, hosted by the Chicago Chapter of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America (VHPA).
The evening’s highlight was a captivating dance drama titled “Ram Ratan Dhan Payo,” performed by a visiting troupe from Bharat under the direction of acclaimed artist Sonal Purchure. The production skillfully combined storytelling, classical dance, and music to portray timeless values of bhakti (devotion), maryada (righteousness), and cultural identity—striking a deep chord with the audience.
“It was more than a performance—it was a spiritual journey,” said Shri Vinesh Virani, President of VHPA-Chicago, reflecting the sentiments of many in the full house.
While the stage shimmered with artistic brilliance, the core purpose of the event remained clear. Support-A-Child is VHPA’s flagship initiative, committed to uplifting underprivileged children in Bharat by providing education, healthcare, and holistic development grounded in Indian cultural values.
The fundraiser united community leaders, longtime supporters, and first-time attendees alike, all driven by a shared commitment to seva (selfless service) and dharma. Generous contributions poured in, reaffirming the community’s dedication to ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive with dignity and purpose.
As the curtains fell, the evening left more than applause—it left a powerful reminder that when culture, compassion, and community come together, transformative change is possible—one child at a time.
