ICO celebrates 10th anniversary of India Day Parade with record-breaking success

The Indian Community Outreach (ICO) in Naperville, IL, marked the 10th anniversary of its India Day Parade & Celebration on August 11th, showcasing the best of Indian culture and breaking attendance records. The event attracted over 50,000 attendees, establishing itself as the largest Indian American celebration in the USA. This year’s parade, a highlight of the day, featured a mile-long procession with intricately decorated floats, community organizations, and public figures. The festivities included a diverse international food court, a health fair offering screenings and medical services, and an ethnic bazaar with fashion and jewelry.

Krishna Bansal, ICO Chairman/President, emphasized the event’s role in integrating Indian Americans into mainstream American society while celebrating their heritage. The parade was led by Bollywood duo Salim-Sulaiman, who served as Grand Marshalls, and featured vibrant performances from across India.

Post-parade activities included a talent show with standout performances, a health fair, and an international food court. The evening featured performances by Bollywood star Krishna Beuraa and Salim-Sulaiman, captivating the audience with their musical talents. The event was attended by notable figures such as Consul General of India Somnath Ghosh, Naperville Mayor Scott Wehrli, and various elected officials. ICO Advisor Vandana Jhingan and Treasurer Viral Shah praised the community’s support and the event’s success.
