The Consulate General of India in Houston, in partnership with the Center for Indian Classical Music of Houston, VPSS Haveli, and leading Indo-American cultural organizations, will host a special commemorative evening to mark ‘150 years of Vande Mataram,’ one of India’s most iconic national songs.

The program is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at VPSS Haveli, 11715 Bellfort Village Drive, Houston, TX 77031, with entry by registration only.

The event will pay tribute to ‘Vande Mataram,’ composed by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, which became a rallying cry during India’s freedom movement and continues to inspire patriotism and cultural pride. Attendees will experience classical music renditions and curated cultural performances under the artistic direction of Pandit Suman Ghosh, blending tradition with contemporary interpretation.

By bringing together community organizations, artists, and the Indian diaspora, the evening aims to celebrate a historic milestone while highlighting the enduring cultural bonds that connect overseas Indians to their heritage. Registrations are encouraged to secure participation in this landmark celebration.
