
Indian Seniors of Chicago celebrate Gujarat Day, birthdays, and Mother’s Day with community spirit

The Indian Seniors of Chicago held their monthly general meeting at the Maha Lakshmi Hall of Manav Seva Mandir on may 10, drawing an enthusiastic attendance of 350 members. The group’s secretary smoothly conducted the gathering.
The event began with devotional hymns setting a spiritual tone, including Ganesh Stuti and Hanuman Chalisa. Members with May birthdays were honored with flowers and birthday wishes, adding a personal and joyful touch to the celebration.A yoga demonstration was presented to promote wellness among seniors, followed by a financial report outlining the organization’s April income and expenses. Special appreciation was extended to recent donors for their continued support.
In observance of Gujarat and Maharashtra Day, members were congratulated and treated to a lively performance of a regional song celebrating Gujarati culture. Thoughtful readings, community updates, and project announcements—such as a briefing on the Moksha Dham initiative and a report on a recent peaceful demonstration—reflected the group’s civic awareness and engagement.
The event also included a solemn tribute to victims of the Pahalgam terrorist attack, observing two minutes of silence and sharing information about Operation Sindoor.
Mother’s Day was warmly celebrated as about ten mothers were honored with flowers, accompanied by a heartfelt musical tribute and a speech on the significance of motherhood.The meeting concluded with the recognition of contributors and an art exhibition featuring creations by around 20 members. Each artist was celebrated with floral bouquets in appreciation of their creative expression.
The event blended culture, remembrance, celebration, and service—capturing the vibrant spirit and values of the Indian Seniors of Chicago.
