CHICAGO, IL — As the world prepares to mark the 10th International Day of Yoga on June 21, the Chicagoland area is buzzing with anticipation. A variety of yoga events are being independently organized by Indian-American organizations, with two major gatherings led by the Consulate General of India in Chicago in collaboration with several community partners.
Flagship event at Navy Pier on June 21
One of the most anticipated celebrations will take place on Friday, June 21, 2025, at Polk Bros Park on Navy Pier. Hosted by the Consulate General of India in partnership with Friends of Yoga, the lakeside open-air event is expected to attract hundreds from across the region. Buses have been arranged from surrounding suburbs, and attendees will receive complimentary Yoga Day T-shirts and light refreshments.
“This year’s event marks a renewed sense of community and commitment to wellness,” said a consulate representative.
Community celebration in Arlington Heights on June 22
A second key celebration will be held on Saturday, June 22, at Gurukul Swaminarayan Temple in Arlington Heights. Organized in collaboration with Indian community groups and local leaders, the session will be led by yoga instructors Jignesh and Hina Dixit. The event continues an 11-year tradition emphasizing yoga as a holistic path to physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Independent celebrations across the region
Beyond these main events, temples, wellness centers, and community hubs throughout Chicagoland—from Naperville to Aurora—are hosting local yoga sessions. The widespread participation reflects the increasing reach and resonance of yoga across communities.
IndoUS Tribune extends its best wishes to all organizers and participants for a meaningful and successful International Yoga Day 2025.
