
Know India Programme opens applications, offering overseas Indian youth immersive three-week journey

The 88th edition of the Know India Programme (KIP) will run from March 8 to March 27, 2026, with applications now officially open. Organized by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, the initiative invites young members of the Indian diaspora to reconnect with their ancestral homeland through an immersive cultural and educational experience.
The Know India Programme is a flagship outreach effort designed to engage overseas Indian youth and deepen their understanding of India’s culture, democratic institutions, economic progress, and technological growth. Over nearly three weeks, selected participants will travel across the country, interact with policymakers and industry leaders, and gain firsthand exposure to India’s development journey.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
- Be between 21 and 35 years of age
- Hold at least a graduate degree
- Be proficient in English
- Belong to the Indian diaspora (excluding Non-Resident Indians)
The final date to submit applications is February 19, 2026.
Interested candidates are required to complete the official application form and review detailed guidelines available through the Consulate General of India, Chicago. Completed applications, along with supporting documents, must be emailed to pic.chicago@mea.gov.in before the deadline.
