Krishnamoorthi escalates pressure on Trump over China rights abuses, rising anti-Hindu sentiment and UK cooperation in Epstein probe
Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi issued a series of sharp appeals to the Trump administration this week, warning that a weakening of democratic values at home and abroad is creating new risks for American security and vulnerable communities. On Monday, as Ranking Member of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, he released a detailed Minority Report accusing the Chinese Communist Party of intensifying repression across three fronts: a tightening crackdown on civil liberties at home, the export of authoritarian practices abroad and the use of emerging technology to build systems of predictive surveillance. The report argues that Beijing’s actions threaten global stability and calls for a bipartisan recommitment to human rights, stronger alliances, revitalized soft-power tools and tighter export controls.
On Sunday, Krishnamoorthi also criticized Vice President J. D. Vance for comments referencing his wife’s faith, saying they contributed to rising anti-Hindu sentiment at a moment when Hindu and Indian-American communities face prejudice, fears of mass deportations and growing hostility.
That same day, Krishnamoorthi urged the administration to work closely with the United Kingdom to secure testimony from Andrew Mountbatten Windsor in the ongoing investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s network. He said Attorney General Pam Bondi and Secretary of State Marco Rubio must use existing cooperation treaties to obtain his account and be prepared to compel testimony if he enters United States territory, adding that survivors deserve full transparency.
