Indian community of Niles Township celebrates 11th International Yoga Day with enthusiasm and unity

The Indian Community of Niles Township (ICNT), in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) Chicago and United Senior Pariwar (USP), hosted its 11th International Yoga Day celebration at Gurukul Swaminarayan Mandir in Arlington Heights, Illinois. The Sunday morning event brought together community leaders, yoga enthusiasts, and dignitaries to honor yoga as India’s timeless gift to the world.

Rohit Joshi, President of ICNT, warmly welcomed attendees from all three participating organizations—ICNT, USP, and FIA—and introduced the dedicated Yoga team that led the session. He expressed gratitude to the community for its continuous support and recognized the volunteers who worked tirelessly to make the event a success.
Indian community of Niles celebrates 11th International Yoga Day Consul General of India in Chicago, Mr. Somnath Ghosh, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. In his address, Mr. Ghosh stressed the need for incorporating yoga into everyday life, emphasizing its mental, physical, and spiritual benefits. He proudly asserted India’s role as the birthplace of yoga and commended the ICNT for its longstanding commitment to promoting health and wellness through community engagement. “This was the very first venue I visited after taking charge in Chicago, and I always feel welcomed coming back to ICNT,” Mr. Ghosh said with fondness.
Indian community of Niles celebrates 11th International Yoga Day Ramesh Chokshi, President of United Senior Pariwar, presented a book to the Consul General as a token of respect and appreciation. Other community leaders, including Hemant Patel, President of FIA Chicago, echoed the sentiment that yoga is a profound legacy of India that continues to benefit people across the globe. Both speakers emphasized the importance of making yoga a daily practice, especially in today’s fast-paced lifestyle.

ICNT honored Jignesh Dixit, the Yoga Team Leader, for his leadership and commitment, presenting him with a bouquet. Smitesh Shah, Secretary of ICNT, offered a flower to each member of the Yoga team as a gesture of gratitude. Rohit Joshi also took the opportunity to recognize key volunteers whose behind-the-scenes efforts ensured the success of the event—Arvind Ankleshwariya, Virendra Patel, Pravin Gandhi, Jagdish Hingu, Harish Topiwala, and Mahesh Danak were all applauded for their service.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by ICNT President, who extended his appreciation to Consul General Somnath Ghosh, members of ICNT, USP, FIAGurukul Swaminarayan Mandir,  IndoUS Tribune, all participants, and the dedicated volunteers who made the 11th International Yoga Day celebration a meaningful and memorable event.
