The Hindu Canadian Foundation marked its 3rd Annual Shri Ram Rath Yatra in 2026 with a day-long spiritual procession across Brampton, Mississauga, and Hamilton, bringing together devotees to commemorate the restoration of the Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, inaugurated on Monday, January 22, 2024.

Organizers said the Yatra was intended to celebrate a landmark moment in Hindu history while strengthening cultural and spiritual connections among Hindu Canadians. This year’s procession was also dedicated to Hindus in Bangladesh, with HCF highlighting concerns related to violence, displacement, and human rights issues affecting minority communities, and urging Canadian authorities to take note.

The Rath Yatra began at Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton amid harsh winter conditions, with devotees participating in bhajans, the Hanuman Chalisa, and aarti before proceeding to Triveni Mandir. A major highlight came at the Canadian Sanatan Mission Mandir in Mississauga, where youth-led devotional singing underscored intergenerational participation.

The journey continued to Hamilton Hindu Samaj Temple and concluded at Yugal Kunj Temple in downtown Hamilton, where the Yatra ended with collective prayers and a community meal.

HCF said the annual Yatra is meant to serve not only as a religious observance but also as an educational and unifying initiative for future generations of Hindu Canadians.
