“Vibrant India” festival illuminates Chicago with culture and compassion

Chicago, IL – April 27, 2025 — Ashton Place sparkled with energy as the Vidya Jyoti Global Education Opportunity Foundation hosted its much-anticipated “Vibrant India” Cultural Festival. This annual celebration wove together community spirit, cultural expression, and a strong message of educational empowerment.

Hosted with grace and humor by Neha Sobti and Priyanka Parekh, the evening opened with a dynamic hip-hop act before unfolding into a dazzling display of talent. From classical Indian dance and Garba to children’s ballet and lively group performances, the stage came alive with contributions from schools like Suhani Dance Academy and Ghunguru School.

Founder Pratibha Jairath moved the audience with a stirring keynote, reaffirming Vidya Jyoti’s mission to support underprivileged children in India, the United States, and Haiti. She shared the emotional story of Radhika, an orphaned girl now thriving in school thanks to the foundation’s ongoing support. “We’re not just giving money,” Jairath emphasized. “We’re giving dignity.”

Two fashion showcases added flair to the event, highlighting ethnic and fusion wear with poise and elegance. The evening culminated in the Title Walk, where Rihanna Tandon and Archana Pantraffan were named winners for their confidence and purpose-driven presentation.

A moving video tribute recognized behind-the-scenes changemakers, echoing the evening’s message of collective progress.

Around the venue, curated vendor booths led by Sarita SoodShree Gurusamy, and Preeti Chawla offered handwoven crafts, traditional cuisine, and vibrant cultural goods, creating an immersive experience for guests.

In a powerful call to action, Dr. Bhupinder Beri encouraged the crowd to support a child’s education with “just a dollar a day,” while Ashok Potdar reminded all that “knowledge is the only wealth that cannot be stolen.”

Before the final Garba circle brought everyone to the dance floor in joyful unity, the foundation presented a special recognition to Jayanti Oza, a respected news media journalist in Chicago, for his steadfast commitment to covering community stories with integrity and heart.
