Historic reopening of Vivekananda Spiritual Center at HTGC followed by Bhajan Sandhya
The Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago (HTGC) celebrated a momentous occasion with the historic reopening of the Vivekananda Spiritual Center (VSC) on October 19, 2025, marking a new chapter of spiritual renewal and community service. The celebration continued with a soul-stirring Bhajan Sandhya held on November 2, 2025, that filled the center with devotion and divine music.
The reopening ceremony was graced by Swami Ishatmananda-ji, whose presence and inspirational message infused the gathering with deep spiritual energy. The event began with Vedic prayers, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, Ram Naam chanting, and Mahaprasad. Devotees expressed heartfelt joy as the Center reopened its doors — once again serving as a haven for meditation, reflection, and the pursuit of Swami Vivekananda’s timeless ideals.
Swami-ji’s address highlighted the importance of inner purity, self-discipline, and universal harmony, echoing the vision of Swami Vivekananda and the Ramakrishna-Vivekananda tradition that continues to inspire spiritual seekers worldwide.
On November 2, devotees from across Chicagoland gathered for a Bhajan Sandhya, where soulful devotional singing and prayers created an atmosphere of peace and unity. The evening reflected the Center’s core mission — nurturing the mind, uplifting the spirit, and strengthening the bonds of community.
Much credit goes to Amrish Mahajan, a veteran community leader, for his dedicated efforts in leading the development of the Swami Vivekananda Center alongside his committed team and Dr. Sudha Rao. Their vision and perseverance have restored the Center as a beacon of Vedantic values, offering opportunities for learning, meditation, and seva (service).
The rejuvenated Vivekananda Spiritual Center will continue to host satsangs, meditation sessions, children’s spiritual programs, scriptural study classes, and community outreach initiatives.
