Actress Jessica Chastain has shared that she’s still trying to learn Italian to better connect with her husband, Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo, and his heritage.

Married since 2017, the couple shares two children—Giulietta and Augustus. Speaking to IO Donna, Chastain admitted she’s not yet confident in the language: “I’m still trying to learn Italian, since it’s part of my family, but I still don’t feel confident enough to speak without difficulty.”

The 48-year-old also noted her struggles with foreign languages, blaming the U.S. public school system for not teaching enough.

Despite political turmoil in the U.S., Chastain said she remains committed to living in New York, her favorite city, praising its diversity and public spirit. “Leaving would seem like giving up. And I am not one to give up,” she added.
