Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga honor wildfire resilience with emotional ‘California Dreamin’’ tribute

Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga delivered a powerful tribute to those affected by the devastating L.A. wildfires, performing the 1960s classic “California Dreamin’” at the 2025 Grammy Awards.

The two pop superstars, who previously collaborated on “Die With a Smile”, took a more somber tone for their Grammy appearance. Their heartfelt rendition followed a montage showcasing the destruction caused by the January wildfires, making the song’s lyrics—“All the leaves are brown … and the sky is gray”—even more poignant for Southern Californians.

Gaga’s major Grammy moments

This was one of two major moments for Gaga during the telecast. Later in the evening, she premiered her new single and music video, “Abracadabra,” from her upcoming album “Mayhem.”

The fast-tempo dance track was unveiled during a commercial break, with Gaga introducing it by saying, “The category is… dance or die.”

Her new album, “Mayhem”, is set for release on March 7.

Grammy success for Mars and Gaga

Their duet, “Die With a Smile,” earned Mars and Gaga two Grammy nominations this year, competing for Song of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Recording.

While their “California Dreamin’” performance honored wildfire survivors, Gaga’s new music premiere added an exciting glimpse into her evolving artistry.
