Jeremy Renner says he’s ready for ‘Hawkeye 2’ and more Marvel roles after recovery
Hollywood actor Jeremy Renner says he’s physically and mentally prepared to return as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following his remarkable recovery from a near-fatal snowplough accident in 2023.
Renner, who sustained 38 broken bones, a collapsed lung, and a lacerated liver after being crushed by his snowcat in January 2023, told Empire that he’s “always happy to be in that world,” referring to Marvel. He said he’s optimistic about starring in Hawkeye Season 2 and other MCU projects.
“My body’s getting ready for something like that,” Renner said, adding humorously, “I don’t know if anybody wants to see me in tights, but my body will look good in the tights.”
The Avengers star emphasized that health and fitness have become central to his life since the accident. “I’ve recovered more than 150%. Even as I age, I feel stronger. I still have some tendon issues and flexibility limitations, but I wouldn’t be this strong if I hadn’t been crushed.”
Renner also revealed that Marvel had approached him for Hawkeye Season 2 but reportedly offered him only half his previous salary. He speculated the lower offer may be related to his accident.
“I’m like, ‘Why? Do you think I’m only half the Jeremy because I got run over?’” he recalled.
Despite the pay dispute, Renner’s comments make it clear he’s enthusiastic about returning to the Marvel universe—healthier, stronger, and with a renewed passion for the character.
