Leonardo DiCaprio to Donate $1 Million to LA Fire Relief Efforts
Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio has pledged $1 million to support Los Angeles in its recovery from the devastating wildfires that have ravaged the region.
The Oscar-winning actor announced his contribution on Instagram Stories on January 15, stating his commitment to assisting with both immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts.
“The Los Angeles wildfires are devastating our city. I am committing $1 million in partnership with @rewild’s Rapid Response Program to support both urgent needs and post-fire recovery efforts,” DiCaprio wrote.
He further shared that the initial aid will benefit several organizations actively responding to the crisis, including the LA Fire Department Foundation, California Fire Foundation, World Central Kitchen, California Community Foundation, Pasadena Humane Society, and SoCal Fire Fund. These groups are working to provide critical resources for first responders, affected families, and displaced animals.
DiCaprio, who grew up in Los Angeles, co-founded Re:wild, an organization designed to tackle environmental disasters and emergencies. He noted that its Rapid Response Program is uniquely positioned to address crises like this.
The Los Angeles wildfires, which began on January 7, are now considered the most destructive in the city’s history. The fires have displaced thousands of residents and claimed at least 25 lives.
Several other celebrities and organizations have also stepped forward to help. Jamie Lee Curtis and her family pledged $1 million for disaster relief, and Grammy-winner Beyoncé announced a $2.5 million donation through her BeyGOOD charity foundation to assist families in rebuilding their lives.
Major corporations have contributed as well. The Walt Disney Company pledged $15 million to relief efforts, while Paramount, Fox Corp., Warner Music, and the Blavatnik Foundation each committed $1 million. Live Nation is organizing a FireAid benefit concert at Inglewood’s Intuit Dome on January 30 to raise additional funds.
Jennifer Garner, Jessica Alba, Halle Berry, and other Hollywood stars have also been actively supporting first responders and families affected by the fires.
DiCaprio’s contribution underscores the importance of solidarity during such environmental crises and highlights the collective efforts being made to rebuild the community.
