Lisa Mishra on working with Zeenat Aman: “She challenged me to elevate my performance as an actor.”

Musician and actress Lisa Mishra is set to share the screen with veteran star Zeenat Aman in the upcoming series “The Royals.” She expressed that working alongside such an esteemed talent motivated her to enhance her acting skills.

Lisa previously appeared in the series “Call Me Bae,” featuring Ananya Panday, which explores the lives, aspirations, and challenges of today’s youth. In contrast, “The Royals” delves into the glamour, intrigue, and power dynamics of high-class society.

“I’ve always been passionate about storytelling, whether through music or acting. ‘Call Me Bae’ and ‘The Royals’ are two distinct projects that allow me to explore different facets of my craft. I’m excited for the audience to experience these characters and stories,” Lisa shared.

She continued, “In ‘The Royals,’ I had the opportunity to work with incredible actors like Zeenat Ma’am. Her presence pushed me to elevate my performance amidst such remarkable talent.”

Originally from Odisha and raised in Chicago, Lisa gained recognition for her rendition of “Tareefan” in the 2018 film “Veere Di Wedding.” She has also lent her voice to hits like “The Wakhra Song” from “Judgementall Hai Kya,” “Nadaaniyaan” in “The Sky Is Pink,” and the party anthem “Chandigarh Mein” from “Good Newwz.”

In 2017, she collaborated with Jamila Woods to create the theme song for the Emmy-nominated web series “Brown Girls.”

Lisa made her acting debut in Ananya Panday’s comedy-drama “Call Me Bae,” directed by Colin D’Cunha, alongside a talented cast including Vir Das, Gurfateh Pirzada, Varun Sood, Vihaan Samat, Muskkaan Jaferi, Niharika Lyra Dutt, and Mini Mathur.

“The Royals” is a modern-day romantic comedy series centered around Indian royalty, featuring Bhumi Pednekar in her series debut and Ishaan Khatter.
