Why Millie Bobby Brown missed Broadway ‘Stranger Things’
Millie Bobby Brown, widely known for her role as Eleven in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, was notably absent from the Broadway opening of Stranger Things: The First Shadow at New York’s Marquis Theatre.
The reason? The actress is currently in the middle of filming Enola Holmes 3, the next installment in the popular detective franchise, according to People magazine.
Despite the star-studded premiere of the Broadway prequel — which transferred from a successful West End run — Brown’s co-stars from the Netflix show showed their support, including Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Jamie Campbell Bower, Cara Buono, Matthew Modine, Brett Gelman, and Priah Ferguson.
Sadie Sink, another original cast member, also missed the opening night but had attended a preview earlier in the week. She is currently starring in John Proctor Is the Villain at Broadway’s Booth Theatre.
Brown, who starred in Enola Holmes (2020) and its 2022 sequel, is reprising her role as the sharp-witted younger sister of Sherlock Holmes. Enola Holmes 3 features returning stars Henry Cavill, Helena Bonham Carter, Himesh Patel, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, and Louis Partridge.
Directed by Philip Barantini and written by Jack Thorne — based on Nancy Springer’s novels — the sequel follows Enola on a high-stakes case in Malta, where her personal and professional worlds collide.
Aside from Stranger Things and the Enola Holmes franchise, Brown has been involved in other Netflix projects, including Damsel and The Electric State.
Meanwhile, fans can expect Stranger Things Season 5 to premiere sometime in 2025, bringing the beloved sci-fi saga closer to its long-anticipated conclusion.
