Free Vaccination: A Major Step in the Fight Against Cervical Cancer, Say Tinsel Town Survivors

At a fashion show organized by the Indian Minorities Foundation (IMF), cancer survivors from the film industry, including Sonali Bendre, Hina Khan, and Tahira Kashyap, took to the ramp to celebrate their battle against cancer and inspire others.

The event, titled ‘Namo Bharat: Walk for Courage,’ was part of Sewa Pakhwada, running from September 17 to October 2. The actresses, all of whom have triumphed over the disease, praised the Modi government for its initiative to provide free vaccinations to prevent cervical cancer.

Sonali Bendre remarked, “I commend the Modi government for launching free vaccinations in government hospitals. Cancer is a deadly disease, and vaccination can prevent cervical cancer. I urge women to get vaccinated.”

She added, “Women’s empowerment and health have been prioritized under Namo Bharat. With new discoveries, I believe this disease will become less frightening. Advancements in medicine will greatly benefit patients.”

Filmmaker Tahira Kashyap, also a cancer survivor, stated, “The free vaccination initiative is one of the biggest steps the Modi government has taken for women’s healthcare. Cervical cancer is no longer the most common cancer in India. This effort to make HPV vaccination available for all girls free of cost is commendable. Vaccination, along with screening and treatment for precancerous lesions, can prevent cervical cancer.”

Actress Hina Khan, who is currently undergoing treatment for third-stage cancer, emphasized, “The ramp walk symbolizes a journey of courage, service, and India’s rich heritage. We all face tough situations, but with conviction and strength, we can fight these diseases. It’s essential for everyone to take care of their health and stay vigilant.”
