Lal Krishna Advani hospitalized at Delhi’s Apollo Hospital
Veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani has been hospitalized at Delhi’s Apollo Hospital after his health deteriorated.
The former Deputy Prime Minister and BJP stalwart was admitted late on Friday night. The 97-year-old Advani has been unwell for some time and this marks his fourth hospitalization in recent months.
The exact reason for his latest hospitalization is not immediately known, but doctors have stated that his condition is stable.
Advani, who served as the former Home Minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, was conferred with the highest civilian honor, the ‘Bharat Ratna,’ this year. As he could not attend the ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan, the award was presented to him at his home.
One of the founders of the BJP and a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Advani was a key figure in the temple movement and led the Rath Yatra from Somnath to mobilize support for the Ram Temple in 1990.
On November 8, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Advani’s residence to extend birthday wishes and shared a photo on social media, where he is seen gifting a bouquet to the leader. PM Modi captioned the photo: “Visited Advani ji’s house to extend birthday wishes.”
In a post on X, PM Modi had also said, “Heartiest greetings to Advani ji on his birthday. This birthday is more special as the leader has been conferred with the Bharat Ratna this year. He is one of the respected leaders of the country who have dedicated their lives to the development of the country. I pray for his long and healthy life.”
“Advani ji has always been respected for his intellect and rich insights. I am fortunate to have received his guidance for many years,” PM Modi added.
