PM Modi to Launch Multiple Health Projects Worth ₹12,850 Crore on Tuesday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch various health-related projects worth approximately ₹12,850 crore on October 29, as part of a significant boost to India’s healthcare sector. The initiatives will be unveiled at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in Delhi at around 12:30 p.m. on the occasion of Dhanvantari Jayanti and the 9th Ayurveda Day.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate Phase II of the All India Institute of Ayurveda, which includes a Panchakarma hospital, an Ayurvedic pharmacy, a sports medicine unit, a central library, an IT and startup incubation center, and a 500-seat auditorium. Additionally, he will inaugurate three medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh—Mandsaur, Neemuch, and Seoni.

Facilities and service extensions at various AIIMS locations will also be inaugurated, including those in Bilaspur (Himachal Pradesh), Kalyani (West Bengal), Patna (Bihar), Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Guwahati (Assam), and Delhi. This will include a Jan Aushadhi Kendra aimed at providing affordable medicines.

Other projects include the inauguration of a Super Specialty Block at the Government Medical College in Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh) and a Critical Care Block in Bargarh (Odisha). The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for five nursing colleges in Madhya Pradesh and 21 Critical Care Blocks across various states as part of the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission.

The inauguration of an ESIC Hospital in Indore (Madhya Pradesh) will accompany the laying of foundation stones for ESIC hospitals in Faridabad (Haryana), Bommasandra and Narasapur (Karnataka), Meerut (Uttar Pradesh), and Atchutapuram (Andhra Pradesh). These projects are expected to benefit around 55 lakh ESI beneficiaries.

As part of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), an expansion of health coverage for senior citizens aged 70 and above will be launched. This initiative aims to provide healthcare coverage to all senior citizens, irrespective of their income.

To enhance healthcare accessibility, the PM will also introduce drone services at 11 Tertiary Healthcare Institutions, including nine AIIMS across various states, and launch helicopter emergency medical services from AIIMS Rishikesh.

A fully digitized vaccination process, known as the U-WIN portal, will be launched to ensure timely administration of vaccines to pregnant women and children. Additionally, a separate portal for allied and healthcare professionals will be established to create a centralized database.

Several initiatives will be introduced to strengthen research and development infrastructure, including a Central Drugs Testing Laboratory in Bhubaneswar (Odisha) and the foundation stones for two Central Research Institutes in Yoga and Naturopathy in Khordha (Odisha) and Raipur (Chhattisgarh).

Four Centres of Excellence will be launched at NIPER institutions in various states, focusing on medical devices, bulk drugs, phytopharmaceuticals, and drug discovery. Four Ayush Centres of Excellence will also be established to enhance research in diabetes, sustainable Ayush solutions, and Ayurveda.

In support of the “Make in India” initiative, five projects under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for medical devices and bulk drugs will be inaugurated. These units, located in states like Gujarat and Telangana, aim to manufacture high-end medical devices and crucial bulk drugs.

Additionally, the Prime Minister will launch a nationwide health awareness campaign, “Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan,” and a state-specific Action Plan on Climate Change and Human Health for each state and Union Territory.
