Health facilities improved in India over the last decade

India has seen remarkable improvements in healthcare infrastructure over the past decade, said Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday.

Speaking at the inauguration of Sharda Care-Health City in Greater Noida, Adityanath emphasized the importance of strengthening healthcare facilities and ensuring world-class medical services are accessible to people across the country.

“For a civilized society, it is essential to have excellent healthcare services. The government is consistently working to promote investment in the health sector,” he stated.

The Chief Minister noted that India had only six AIIMS hospitals in the past 70 years, but under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the number has increased to 22 in the last 10 years.

In Uttar Pradesh, the number of government medical colleges has significantly risen from 12 in 2017 to 40 in the last eight years. Additionally, 37 private medical colleges have been established, along with three medical colleges under the public-private partnership model in Maharajganj, Sambhal, and Shamli.

“In the coming days, medical colleges will also be opened in Ballia and Balrampur, with provisions made in the budget,” Adityanath said, adding that the remaining six districts of Uttar Pradesh will also get medical colleges.

Currently, free dialysis, CT scan, and MRI services are available in every district. The government is also ensuring adequate arrangements for doctors and technical staff, particularly in rural areas.

To promote healthcare awareness, the Mukhyamantri Arogya Mela is organized every Sunday, where people learn about various health schemes. “Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of beneficiaries under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, with 10 crore people receiving golden cards,” he stated.

Furthermore, Asha workers, ANMs, home guards, PRD jawans, and chowkidars will be covered under a ₹5 lakh health insurance scheme.

Adityanath also highlighted the potential of health tourism, stating that India has the capability to become a global leader in the rapidly growing sector.
