India urges security for places of worship after Hindu temple vandalism in US

India has strongly condemned the recent vandalism at a Hindu temple in Chino Hills, California, calling for strict action against those responsible and enhanced security for places of worship.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal described the act as “despicable” and urged local law enforcement to take immediate action.

“We have seen reports regarding the vandalism at a Hindu temple in Chino Hills, California. We condemn such despicable acts in the strongest terms. We call upon local authorities to take stringent action against the perpetrators and ensure adequate security for places of worship,” Jaiswal said in a statement.

The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, one of the largest Hindu temples in the U.S., was defaced with anti-India graffiti.

The official page of BAPS Public Affairs shared the incident on social media platform X, stating, “In the face of another Mandir desecration, this time in Chino Hills, CA, the Hindu community stands steadfast against hate. We will never let hate take root. Our common humanity and faith will ensure peace and compassion prevail.”

The Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) linked the attack to an upcoming Khalistan referendum in Los Angeles, highlighting the increasing threats to Hindu places of worship.

The desecration follows another vandalism incident at a BAPS temple in New York less than 10 days ago. Community members have called for a thorough investigation into the recurring temple attacks.
