India, China reaffirm border stability during 23rd Corps Commander Level Meeting at Chushul-Moldo

India and China held the 23rd round of Corps Commander Level Meeting at the Chushul-Moldo border meeting point, reaffirming peace and stability along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Wednesday.

The talks, described as “friendly and cordial,” marked the first General-Level Mechanism meeting in the Western Sector since the 24th round of Special Representatives Talks in August 2025. Both sides reviewed the progress made since the previous meeting in October 2024 and agreed to continue dialogue through established military and diplomatic channels to address ground issues.

According to China’s Ministry of National Defence, the two militaries engaged in “active and in-depth communication” on managing the western section of the border, reaffirming their commitment to maintain peace and tranquility.

The meeting built upon the discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping during their informal interaction on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin earlier this year. Both leaders had emphasized dialogue, confidence-building, and a fair, mutually acceptable resolution to the boundary issue.

India and China noted that since last year’s successful disengagement, peace has largely prevailed along the border. They reaffirmed their commitment to uphold the momentum of dialogue and ensure that the border remains stable while broader bilateral relations continue to improve.
