
India emerges as a reliable development partner under PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reinforced India’s position as a strong and reliable development partner by supporting infrastructure, healthcare, education, and connectivity projects worldwide.
In Mauritius, PM Modi will inaugurate the Civil Service College and an Area Health Centre, both built with Indian grant assistance. These projects aim to strengthen Mauritius’ administrative and healthcare infrastructure, reflecting India’s commitment to fostering long-term growth and capacity building.
PM Modi’s vision of “prosperity for all” is evident through numerous development projects across various countries under India’s assistance.
In Bhutan, India financed the Gyaltsuen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck Mother and Child Hospital, with the first phase completed in 2019 and the second phase in 2024. The hospital provides specialized maternal and child healthcare services and was inaugurated by PM Modi and the Bhutanese PM in 2024.
In Bangladesh, PM Modi and the then-Prime Minister jointly inaugurated three major projects in 2023, including the Akhaura-Agartala Cross-Border Rail Link, the Khulna-Mongla Port Rail Line, and Unit II of the Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant, all developed with Indian assistance.
In Nepal, PM Modi and the then-Prime Minister flagged off the Jayanagar-Kurtha railway in 2022, marking the first broad-gauge passenger railway link between India and Nepal, built with Indian grant assistance.
In Seychelles, PM Modi and President Ramkalawan inaugurated the Magistrates’ Court building in Victoria in 2021 through video conferencing, India’s first infrastructure project in the country, funded by a $3.5 million Indian grant.
In Mauritius, PM Modi and Prime Minister Jugnauth jointly inaugurated the new Supreme Court building in 2020, followed by the Metro Express project and the New ENT Hospital in 2019.
In Afghanistan, PM Modi and the then-President inaugurated the Afghan-India Friendship Dam (Salma Dam) in 2016 and the Afghan Parliament Building in 2015, showcasing India’s commitment to Afghan reconstruction and development.
In Sri Lanka, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the Jaffna Cultural Centre in 2015, which was inaugurated in 2022, strengthening socio-cultural ties.
