Israeli FM Gideon Sa’ar to meet EAM Jaishankar in New Delhi on Tuesday
Israel’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gideon Sa’ar, will meet External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in New Delhi on Tuesday as part of a two-day diplomatic visit aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation, the Israeli Foreign Ministry confirmed on Monday.
During his stay, Sa’ar will engage with senior Indian officials, ambassadors, diplomats, research leaders, and business executives to strengthen strategic, economic, and innovation ties between the two nations. He is also expected to brief scholars and security analysts on evolving developments in the Middle East before returning to Israel on Wednesday.
Israeli media reports suggest that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is likely to visit India soon, reflecting a renewed momentum in India–Israel relations.
Sa’ar and Jaishankar last met during the Munich Security Conference earlier this year, where they discussed implementing Trump’s vision of enhancing connectivity between Asia, Europe, and the U.S. through routes passing via Israel. The ministers also addressed concerns over disruptions in global trade routes caused by Iranian and Houthi activities, underlining Israel’s commitment to its partnership with India.
The two foreign ministers have remained in regular contact, with Jaishankar acknowledging a call from Sa’ar on June 13 about ongoing regional developments.
India and Israel continue to maintain robust ties in defence, innovation, technology, and agriculture, while both nations share a mutual commitment to regional stability and counterterrorism cooperation.
Last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Netanyahu for his Diwali greetings, reaffirming the growing warmth between the two countries. Modi, in turn, extended birthday wishes to Netanyahu, emphasizing the continued growth of the India–Israel Strategic Partnership.
“Thank you, my dear friend, for your warm Diwali greetings… May our strategic partnership continue to flourish,” Modi posted on X. Netanyahu reciprocated with a message celebrating India’s festival of lights, noting that Israel and India “stand together as partners in innovation, friendship, and defence.”
