Jaishankar: Pakistan informed after Operation Sindoor strikes
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Monday firmly denied claims that Pakistan was warned in advance about Operation Sindoor, stating that Islamabad was informed 30 minutes after the May 7 strikes.
Speaking at the Ministry of External Affairs’ Consultative Committee Meeting, Jaishankar addressed allegations by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, calling them a “dishonest misrepresentation of facts.”
He explained that India launched precision strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians. Following the operation, India formally notified Pakistan via the DGMO.
The 25-minute air and drone operation triggered Pakistani military retaliation, which was repelled. Although both nations agreed to a ceasefire on May 10, Pakistan reportedly violated it within hours, prompting India to issue a strong warning.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi showcased satellite images of the destroyed terror hubs in his Mann Ki Baat address, calling the strikes a symbol of India’s changing approach to terrorism.
India has also sent multi-party delegations abroad to clarify its position and push back against global misinformation regarding Operation Sindoor.
