JD Vance visits Amer Fort with family
US Vice President James David Vance, accompanied by his wife Usha Vance and their three children, is currently visiting Jaipur as part of his India tour.
After arriving in New Delhi on Monday—where he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visited the Akshardham Temple—Vance and his family traveled to Jaipur and stayed at the iconic Rambagh Palace. On Tuesday morning, the family toured the historic Amer Fort.
For security reasons, Amer Fort was closed to the public in advance. The Vice President traveled to the fort in an open jeep from Hathi Stand, passing by architectural highlights including Mavtha Sarovar and Kesar Kyari Bagh.
At Jaleb Chowk, Vance and his family were welcomed by two elephants, Pushpa and Chanda, adorned in 350-year-old traditional Rajasthani ornaments such as kantha (necklace) and payal (anklets). Pushpa offered blessings while Chanda honored Vance with a flower garland. The grand welcome also included performances by Rajasthani folk artists.
After the Amer Fort tour, the Vance family was scheduled to visit Panna Meena Kund and the Anokhi Museum before returning to Rambagh Palace for a short rest.
In the afternoon, the US Vice President will address the US Business Summit at the Rajasthan International Center (RIC), focusing on trade and bilateral cooperation between India and the United States. He will also meet Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, and Industry Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore to discuss Indo-US collaboration.
Ahead of lunch, Vance will be briefed on Jaipur’s iconic landmarks, including Jal Mahal and Hawa Mahal. The family will also enjoy a traditional Rajasthani meal.
Security has been heightened around Amer Fort and key locations in Jaipur, with US and Indian agencies working closely to ensure safety.
On April 23, the Vice President is scheduled to fly to Agra to visit the Taj Mahal, before returning to Jaipur for a visit to the City Palace. There, he will be welcomed by Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari.
JD Vance and his family are expected to depart for the United States on the morning of April 24.
