Will continue offering full support to Indian government: Kash Patel on Pahalgam attack
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel on Sunday strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir and assured continued support to the Indian government in its fight against terrorism.
Calling the deadly assault a “reminder of the constant threats our world faces from the evils of terrorism,” Patel expressed condolences for the victims of the April 22 attack, which killed 26 civilians. The attack was carried out by The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), sparking widespread outrage both domestically and internationally.
Taking to X, Patel posted, “The FBI sends our condolences to all the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Kashmir — and will continue offering our full support to the Indian government.” He added, “Pray for those affected. Thank you to the men and women of law enforcement who answer the call in moments like these.”
In a strong show of solidarity, former US President Donald Trump spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon after the attack. Trump conveyed his deepest condolences, strongly condemned the terror attack, and expressed full support for India’s efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“President Donald Trump called PM Narendra Modi and conveyed his deepest condolences at the loss of innocent lives in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. President Trump strongly condemned the terror attack and expressed full support to India to bring to justice the perpetrators of this heinous attack,” said the Ministry of External Affairs in a post on X.
When asked about tensions between India and Pakistan, Trump refrained from offering to mediate, noting, “There have been tensions on that border for 1500 years,” and expressing confidence that the two nations would manage the situation.
Further emphasizing US support, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard also extended condolences and backed India’s pursuit of justice. Posting on X, Gabbard wrote, “We are with you and support you as you hunt down those responsible for this heinous attack.”
The series of strong statements from US leadership reflects deepening cooperation and shared resolve between India and the United States against terrorism.
