Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday spoke with the Chief Ministers of Assam and Sikkim and the Governor of Manipur to assess the flood situation across the northeastern states and pledged full support from the Centre for relief efforts.

Heavy rains have battered Assam, Sikkim, Manipur, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh, disrupting life and isolating remote areas. Rising river levels, including those of the Brahmaputra and Kushiyara, have inundated large areas, displacing thousands.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Sikkim CM Prem Singh Tamang both expressed gratitude on X for the Prime Minister’s concern and assistance. In Manipur, the Army and Assam Rifles have rescued over 1,000 people as over 56,000 remain affected.
