Russian ambassador praises Modi’s leadership, after Pahalgam attack
In an exclusive interview, Russia’s Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and commended India for swiftly identifying and punishing those responsible for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.
Alipov stated that there is no doubt about PM Modi’s global credentials, crediting his leadership for India’s rising international profile. He emphasized that both India and Russia advocate for a multipolar world order built on equality and mutual respect, reaffirmed during the May 5 conversation between President Vladimir Putin and PM Modi.
The Russian President is expected to visit India later this year, continuing the tradition of annual bilateral summits. Putin last visited in December 2021, and Modi made two trips to Russia in 2023 for the India-Russia Summit and BRICS Summit.
Alipov highlighted Russia’s immediate condemnation of the Pahalgam attack and Putin’s personal message to Modi expressing solidarity. He appreciated India’s decisive action in bringing the perpetrators to justice and reiterated Russia’s firm stance against terrorism, rejecting double standards.
Both countries continue to coordinate closely on counterterrorism efforts, including at the United Nations, where Russia supports India’s proposed convention against terrorism.
