PM Modi concludes 5-nation tour, highlights India’s global outreach

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left for India after completing a highly successful five-nation tour to Ghana, Trinidad & Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia. The Ministry of External Affairs described the visit as “productive and successful.”

During the trip, PM Modi achieved a diplomatic milestone by addressing three national parliaments—in Ghana, Trinidad & Tobago, and Namibia—bringing his total number of speeches to foreign legislatures to 17. This equals the cumulative record of all Congress Prime Ministers before him.

This visit strengthened India’s ties with nations across Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean, reflecting New Delhi’s rising engagement with the Global South.

PM Modi was conferred with top civilian honours in multiple countries, including the Order of the Star of Ghana and Namibia’s Order of the Most Ancient Welwitschia Mirabilis. In Trinidad & Tobago, he was the first foreign leader to receive The Order of the Republic.

In his parliamentary addresses, Modi emphasized democracy, development partnerships, and India’s global responsibilities. From digital infrastructure to climate leadership and inclusive growth, his speeches echoed key themes of India’s evolving diplomacy.

Symbolic gestures also resonated. In Trinidad & Tobago, he stood before a Speaker’s Chair gifted by India in 1968. In Namibia, chants of “Modi, Modi” filled the Parliament chamber as lawmakers applauded his speech.

Since 2014, Modi has addressed lawmakers in countries across continents—from Australia and the US to Uganda and Guyana—signalling India’s expanding global credibility.

As India prepares to chair the BRICS summit in 2026, the Prime Minister’s global outreach affirms the nation’s growing diplomatic footprint and strategic influence.
