PM Modi praises Rekha Gupta’s team for good governance in Delhi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and her Cabinet of six ministers after their oath-taking ceremony at Ramlila Maidan, expressing confidence that the new team would ensure good governance in Delhi.
Taking to social media, PM Modi wrote on X, “Congratulations to Smt. Rekha Gupta Ji on taking oath as Delhi’s Chief Minister. She has risen from the grassroots, being active in campus politics, state organisation, municipal administration, and now as an MLA and Chief Minister. I am confident she will work for Delhi’s development with full vigour.”
He also extended his best wishes to the newly sworn-in ministers—Parvesh Singh Verma, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh—calling their team a “beautiful mix of vigour and experience.”
With Rekha Gupta taking charge, the BJP has returned to power in Delhi after 27 years. She is the fourth woman Chief Minister of Delhi after Sheila Dikshit, Sushma Swaraj, and Atishi, and the fourth BJP leader to hold the position after Madan Lal Khurana, Sahib Singh Verma, and Sushma Swaraj.
The newly formed Cabinet is expected to hold its first meeting at 3 PM at the Delhi Secretariat. Key agenda items include the implementation of the Mahila Samriddhi Yojna, which provides ₹2,500 per month to women beneficiaries, and the approval of the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme.
Additionally, CM Rekha Gupta has indicated a firm stance on corruption cases involving the previous AAP-led administration, stating that those in power for the last 12 years will be held accountable.
