Prez Murmu, PM Modi greet Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram on Statehood Day

Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram celebrated their Statehood Day on Thursday with vibrant cultural programs, sports events, and official ceremonies.

President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President and Union Minister J.P. Nadda, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, several Union ministers, Governors, and Chief Ministers of northeastern states, along with Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, extended greetings to the people of both states.

President Murmu, in a post on X, praised the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram, expressing confidence in their continued progress.

PM Modi also took to X to congratulate the people, highlighting Arunachal Pradesh’s deep connection with nature and Mizoram’s vibrant traditions. He wished both states prosperity and harmony in the years ahead.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah acknowledged Arunachal Pradesh’s cultural diversity and Mizoram’s rich heritage, appreciating their contributions to India’s development.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi emphasized the importance of preserving the unique identities of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram, celebrating their role in India’s unity in diversity.

Arunachal Pradesh became a full-fledged state on February 20, 1987, after being a Union Territory since 1972, when it was renamed from the North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA). Mizoram, also a former part of Assam, was granted Union Territory status in 1972 and became the 23rd state of India on February 20, 1987.
