Will Rahul Gandhi seek MP Naik’s resignation over MUDA scam?
After the Karnataka Lokayukta indicted Congress MP G. Kumar Naik in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam, BJP Rajya Sabha member Lahar Singh Siroya has questioned whether Rahul Gandhi will demand his resignation.
Siroya took to social media, pointing out that the Lokayukta investigation report blamed Naik, then the Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru, along with three other officers, for illegalities in the case involving Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s family.
He further questioned whether Naik’s Lok Sabha ticket was a reward for his actions while in service and if the Congress leadership, including AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, was aware of his past conduct.
“Will the Congress and Rahul Gandhi, who frequently speak of morality, ask Naik to resign, or will they ignore the issue?” Siroya asked. He also raised concerns about whether officers were being scapegoated to protect political figures and if this would impact bureaucratic morale.
While the Lokayukta cleared CM Siddaramaiah and his family of any wrongdoing, Siroya emphasized that the scam itself was real. He suggested that officers may have acted under political pressure and reiterated the need for a CBI investigation.
Meanwhile, MP Kumar Naik responded by stating that he had not yet seen the Lokayukta report and would decide on further action once it was available. He maintained that the land allocation followed legal procedures and was properly verified before execution.
