American dream is surging, bigger and better: Trump
US President Donald Trump, in his first address to a joint session of Congress, declared that the “American dream is unstoppable” and that the country was on the verge of an unprecedented comeback.
“The American Dream is surging—bigger and better than ever before. Our country is on the verge of a comeback the likes of which the world has never witnessed, and perhaps will never witness again,” Trump said to loud cheers from Republican lawmakers.
Trump Highlights Early Achievements
The president touted the accomplishments of his first six weeks in office, vowing to press forward with his agenda despite opposition.
“We have accomplished more in 43 days than most administrations accomplish in four or eight years—and we are just getting started,” he said as lawmakers chanted “USA! USA!”
Trump noted that he had signed nearly 100 executive orders and taken over 400 executive actions, claiming these moves were aimed at restoring “common sense, safety, optimism, and wealth” across the country.
Criticism of Democrats and Economic Vision
Trump criticized Democrats for refusing to support his policies, stating, “There is absolutely nothing I can say to make them happy, or to make them stand, smile, or applaud.”
He added, “I could find a cure to a very devastating disease, and they would still withhold their support… It’s very sad, and it just shouldn’t be this way.”
Addressing the economy, Trump emphasized his vision for growth and defended his trade policies, even as his trade war with Canada, China, and Mexico has rattled global markets.
Electoral Mandate and Republican Support
Trump also referenced his electoral victory, claiming it gave him “a mandate like has not been seen in many decades.” He pointed to the electoral map, describing it as “almost completely red for Republican.”
While his remarks were met with enthusiastic chants from Republican lawmakers, Democrats responded with boos, highlighting the deep partisan divide in Congress.
