Trump threatens more cuts to Harvard funding amid legal battle

Donald Trump has threatened to strip Harvard University of an additional $3 billion in federal grants, escalating his conflict with the prestigious institution. The former president’s latest comments come amid an ongoing legal battle over federal funding and international student enrollment.

On Memorial Day, Trump delivered the traditional presidential address at Arlington National Cemetery, but later shifted focus to social media where he criticized judges and promoted his achievements. He wrote, “I am considering taking Three Billion Dollars of Grant Money away from a very antisemitic Harvard, and giving it to TRADE SCHOOLS all across our land.”

The remark follows last week’s announcement by the Trump administration to revoke Harvard’s federal permission to enroll international students, a decision swiftly blocked by a federal judge.

Harvard has filed lawsuits claiming Trump is trying to control academic decision-making through financial coercion. The university is currently fighting to maintain access to nearly $9 billion in federal funding, as foreign universities increasingly try to attract U.S. students amid the controversy.
