US Intel chief vows to defeat Islamist terrorism ideology
US Intelligence Chief Tulsi Gabbard, during her visit to India for the Raisina Dialogue, highlighted the United States’ strong commitment to defeating the ideology behind Islamist terrorism and addressing the persecution of religious minorities in Bangladesh.
In an exclusive interview with NDTV, Gabbard expressed deep concern over the ongoing political turmoil in Bangladesh and the targeting of Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, and other minorities. She emphasized that the Trump administration remains focused on tackling extremist forces globally.
“The long-term persecution, killing, and abuse of religious minorities have been a major area of concern for the US government and President Trump,” Gabbard said.
She confirmed that the Trump administration has initiated talks with Bangladesh’s interim government led by Mohammad Younus to address these issues.
Gabbard warned of extremist elements attempting to establish an Islamic Caliphate, calling it a global pattern. She stressed that the Trump administration is prioritizing policies to counter these threats.
“The threat of Islamist terrorists and their goal of establishing an Islamic Caliphate affects people of all other religions through violence and terror,” she noted.
Gabbard affirmed that President Trump remains committed to identifying and defeating the ideology driving Islamist terrorism, stating, “We are determined to dismantle their ability to inflict terror on people.”
