Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Announces Enhanced Arrangements for Navratri Celebrations

Katra, India — As the auspicious Navratri festival approaches, Anshul Garg, CEO of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, has unveiled a series of initiatives aimed at improving the pilgrimage experience for devotees from around the globe. During a press meet held today, Garg detailed significant upgrades to facilities and services in preparation for the influx of visitors.

New Yatri Registration Center and Facilities

One of the key enhancements is the establishment of a new Yatri Registration Center at the railway station, set to open at 5:00 AM on October 1st. This addition is part of a broader network of 47 registration centers designed to streamline the registration process for pilgrims. Alongside these counters, the Board has ensured the availability of essential amenities such as restrooms and drinking water stations.

In response to previous concerns regarding long waiting times in Katra, Garg emphasized the Board’s commitment to alleviating congestion, stating, “With these new registration measures, we aim to create a more efficient and comfortable experience for our visitors.”

Introduction of RFID Cards for Enhanced Security

To bolster safety, the Shrine Board will implement RFID cards for all registered pilgrims. Garg noted that this new system, which replaces the former method, will allow for better tracking and management of visitor movements throughout the shrine area. “The RFID cards will significantly enhance security and ensure a safer pilgrimage experience for all,” he remarked.

Expanded Meal and Rest Services

Continuing its tradition of hospitality, the Board has announced that meal services will be enhanced this year. A new Langar service will operate in the Ardhkuwari area, offering free meals from 3:00 PM to midnight, ensuring that no pilgrim goes hungry. Additional counters for meals and drinking water will also be established to accommodate the anticipated large crowds.

Commitment to Accessibility and Health Services

The Board has prioritized accessibility for senior citizens and differently-abled individuals, providing dedicated services to ensure their comfort and convenience during the festivities. Garg mentioned that health ATMs will be installed throughout the pilgrimage route, directly connected to local hospitals, to facilitate immediate medical assistance for those in need.

Advanced Security Measures

With a focus on crowd management and safety, the Shrine Board has developed detailed action plans for effective monitoring, leveraging advanced surveillance technology. “Our teams are working around the clock to maintain high cleanliness and safety standards, ensuring a welcoming environment for all,” Garg stated.

Engagement with the Community

The Shrine Board expressed gratitude for the continuous feedback received from frequent visitors and local residents. Ongoing discussions are being held with the RFID team to explore dedicated services for regular pilgrims, further enhancing their experience during the festival.
As the Navratri celebrations draw near, Garg looks forward to welcoming pilgrims from all walks of life, aiming for a safe, enjoyable, and spiritually enriching journey for everyone.
