Home Minister directs states to identify and deport Pakistani nationals

In the wake of the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has asked all Chief Ministers to identify Pakistani nationals residing in their states and take immediate steps to deport them.

According to official sources, Shah personally reached out to state leaders, urging swift action against Pakistani nationals whose visas are now invalid. The Indian government has already announced the cancellation of all valid visas issued to Pakistani citizens, giving them until April 27 to leave the country.

This move is part of a broader diplomatic and national security response following the killing of 26 civilians—mostly tourists—by heavily armed terrorists in the Baisaran meadows of Pahalgam on April 22. The attackers, linked to Pakistan-backed groups, also killed one Nepali citizen in what is being described as the deadliest civilian massacre in the region in recent history.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated on Wednesday that all Pakistani visas stand revoked from April 27. However, medical visas will be valid for a short extension, until April 29.

India has launched a five-point diplomatic offensive against Pakistan, which includes:

  • Suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty
  • Closure of the Attari-Wagah border
  • Declaration of Pakistan’s defence advisors in India as persona non grata
  • Significant downsizing of diplomatic missions on both sides
  • A global campaign to expose Pakistan’s role in the attack

Grim videos shared across social media platforms show the extent of the violence in Pahalgam, where terrorists armed with high-powered weapons systematically targeted tourists. Survivors have given chilling testimonies, describing how the attackers separated the men and executed them at point-blank range.

The Modi government’s message is clear: those responsible will be held accountable, and Pakistan will face severe diplomatic isolation for its role in fomenting terrorism.
