Two dead, four injured in separate road crashes in Australia

Two people were killed and four others injured in two separate traffic accidents in Queensland, northern Australia, on Wednesday, authorities said.

A head-on collision near Breddan, over 1,000 km northwest of Brisbane, left a woman in her 50s dead at the scene. The driver, a man in his 50s, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The other vehicle’s driver, a woman in her 40s, was critically injured.

Earlier, a three-vehicle crash near Bajool, about 500 km away, claimed the life of a 24-year-old SUV driver. Two pickup drivers were hospitalized.

The incidents come during Australia’s National Road Safety Week, as officials urge motorists to slow down amid rising road deaths.
